Sarah Anspach
Flute
Sarah holds a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. She has been a member of the Centerville Community Band since 2005. She performed with the Miami University Symphonic Band and Choraliers, and with the orchestra for Kettering Theatre Under the Stars.
Catharine Jordan
Clarinet
Cate studied clarinet at the University of Toledo. She has served as Clarinet instructor and Camp Counselor for several marching bands. Cate was President for the University of Toledo chapter of the Ohio Collegiate Music Educators Association. Her teaching experiece also includes serving as a teaching assistant for the Hilliard Darby Women’s Chorus, squad leader and drum major for Hilliard Darby Marching Band, and Choir Section Leader and Officer for the Hilliard Darby Symphonic Choir, University of Toledo Women’s Chorale. Cate can also be found helping our customers at the front desk and on the phone. She enjoys walking her dog and staying active.
Joe Ulmer
Alto Saxophone/Clarinet/Tenor Saxophone/
Joe graduated from Cincinnati Conservatory of Music at UC with a degree in music education majoring in Jazz Saxophone. Joe also is an accomplished performer playing with many music groups including the Noah Wotherspoon Band, Just Strange Brothers, the Hauer Swing Band, Central Jazz Big Band, Flying Circus Big Band, and the Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra. Teaching is his way of showing others how music can bring joy to life.
Kathy DeGruchy
Oboe/ English Horn
Katherine holds a Masters in Music Performance. She performed in the Mexico City Philharmonic for 17 years. She returned to the Dayton area in 2005 and has continued performing in the Middletown Symphony Orchestra, the Clermont Symphony, the Lebanon Symphony, and the Dayton Philharmonic. She is a member of the International Double Reed Society and Adjunct Instructor, Applied Oboe at Wright State University.
Ashley Noble
Oboe
Ashley Noble performs on oboe and English horn with the Bach Society of Dayton, is a subsititute performer with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, and freelances throughout the area. Previously, Ashley served as Principal Oboe/English Horn with the United States Air Force Band of Flight and worked as instructor of oboe at Earlham College, Wittenberg University, and as a private studio teacher, before having children of her own. She has been featured as a soloist on tour with the USAF Band of Flight, performed with the Alabama Symphony, and has performed and toured in China.
Ashley has music degrees from Baylor University, the University of Southern Mississippi, and studied for several years with Robert Sorton, now retired from The Ohio State University.
She is married to Jerry, percussion instructor at Wright State University, and has three busy teenagers.
John DeGruchy
Bassoon
John holds a Masters degree in Bassoon performance. He plays professionally with Burning River Winds, many regional philharmonic organizations such as Cincinnati, Springfield, Lima, Middletown, Fairfield and more, and has conducted master classes for many University and private camps.
