Policy for group classes newborn - 6 yrs

This experience is a process that will enrich and stimulate your child’s life musically, socially, and intellectually. You, as a parent, are a very important part of the success of the curriculum.

Tuition
Enrollment is for the school year or for one or both summer sessions. To make the tuition easier on your budget, tuition fees are automatically billed to your credit or debit card on a monthly basis. 2 weeks notice is required for cancellation of your subscription to avoid cancellation fees.

Home activities
You and your child will greatly benefit from the experience, especially if you make active use of your At Home materials. Wonderful information and engaging activities to do together are included in your home materials. I encourage you to make use of this very important part of the experience. Frequent reinforcement at home throughout the week makes all the difference in a child’s comfort and participation in the classroom.

Making the Most of classes
The most important thing you can do for your child is to be an active but patient role model. Your child may not follow the teacher at first, but they will follow you. In fact, many children often take several weeks to begin to feel comfortable in class. Don’t get discouraged, these young children are still learning how to interact in a group setting, but I must ask that you be sensitive to the safety or enjoyment of others in the class. If your child is having difficulty focusing or participating in class, gently redirect his or her attention. If your child becomes disruptive (crying, screaming, running – it happens to all of us!), please step outside of the classroom for a few minutes to give your child a moment to calm, then return to the classroom when ready. Children in the Kindermusik classes where parents do not stay in the room may not be comfortable separating for the first few classes. We will work with you and your child to make them feel comfortable. There is a waiting area on site for you so your child can check in with you or you can be asked to join us if needed.

Class Placement
Each individual child has his/her own unique needs. If you feel your child would benefit from a different class, time, or age group please feel free to discuss this with the teacher and adjustments can be made. As your teacher becomes more familiar with your child, she may approach you if she feels changes would be beneficial to your child. Children may transfer between age groups at the beginning of any month with 1 week notice. Transfer to MYC Sunshine or KM Young Child classes need to be done prior to December 1 due to the progressive learning in these classes.

Comfort is Key
Movement is a key element to the program. I ask that children and participating adults dress appropriately for activities such as crawling, sitting on the floor, and dancing around the room. Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is best. In order to keep the floor clean and dry, participants are asked to remove their shoes. Adults are asked to please wear clean comfortable socks if going shoeless. Children may participate barefooted (floor is carpeted). Being barefoot allows toddlers to get maximum benefit from the range of motion and sensory input through the feet as they explore various movement experiences.

Illness, Make-up Classes
If your child is ill (fever within the past 24 hours, diarrhea, or yellow discharge from nose) please keep your child home. Children who do not feel well will not be able to enjoy or benefit from the program. If you miss a class for any reason and the same class is offered at a different time or day, you may attend at the alternate time to make up the missed class. Please notify us before attending a different class time to make sure space is available. You also can utilize your home materials and do activities at home.

Cancellations
In the event a class needs to be canceled due to teacher illness or inclement weather, activities will be emailed to you to do with your child at home. You are also welcome to attend the same type of class on a different day/time if one is available.  Scheduled classes are posted on our website calendar.  If your class does not appear on a week on the calendar, that is a scheduled Week off.  Cancellations due to weather will be posted on our facebook page.

*If Springboro schools or Miamisburg schools are closed due to weather, we will not have morning classes at those locations. Please check the TV and radio announcements and our facebook page. If you are not sure, call before venturing out. Cancellation of evening classes will be evaluated later in the day depending on road conditions.
Participants will be notified if canceled.  If a class needs to be canceled for other reasons, someone will notify you.

Refunds and Returned checks
$30 fee will be assessed for returned checks. You must notify That Music Place in writing if you intend to cancel your enrollment prior to the end of your last month. Once fees are charged, there are no refunds but you may attend the classes for which you are charged. Refunds cannot be given for materials or for classes attended. Any refund requests for unexpected serious circumstances will be considered on an individual basis.

Non-enrolled Siblings
Due to limited class sizes and unique class settings, we regret that classes are unable to accommodate non-enrolled siblings other than infants in carrier seats. It is ideal for parents to bring only the enrolled children to class in order to participate in class and give full attention to the enrolled child. Emergency situations are considered, however, so please ask if an emergency situation arises.
